tree hill is our home; saying goodbye to one tree hill
TOP TEN EPISODES | 4x13 “PICTURES OF YOU”You ever wonder how long it takes to change your life? What measure of time is enough to be life-altering? Is it four years, like high school? One year? An eight-week rock tour? Can your life change in a month, a week, or a single day? We’re always in a hurry to grow up, to go places, to get ahead. But when you’re young, one hour can change everything.

I think Lucas never did these things for Brooke (things that instead he did for Peyton). She desperately wanted demonstrations from him, but she never got them. Lucas was good with words but, you know, actions speak louder. And he never fought for Brooke. Not once. He said he wanted her back both in s2-3 and at the beginning of s4. In s2 he confessed his love when she was leaving (wow…). In s3 he accepted her “non-exclusive relationship”. In s4 he even told her he was wrong and that he wasn’t the guy for her. And I always thought that it was true. He’s not the one for her. He never put her first. I don’t think he never loved her. It’s not that. I really think that when he said those words to her he was sincere. I just think he never loved her enough. You can love more people in a lifetime. But you love with different intensity. And sometimes despite the love, some relationships simply don’t work. I think Brooke always wanted demonstrations from Lucas because she was insecure and she wasn’t able to trust him because he hurt her. Lucas never properly understood what Brooke wanted and needed. This scene proves that. He didn’t understand her. He never did. And she desperately wanted him to prove that her insecurities were wrong, she wanted that his promises were real and not just random words. That’s why I think they never worked together. Of course this is my opinion from what I saw.

“Over the past year, I’ve learned so much about life and love and even if i could I wouldnt take back all the bad stuff that happened between us, cause it brought us here, this moment, this river. Marry me, Haley. Marry me again in front of all our friends and our family.”
